The Nasarawa State Police Command on Monday paraded three suspects, who allegedly kidnapped a Taiwanese farmer, Chew Williams, at Sabon Gida village in the Kokona Local Government Area of the state.
The Commissioner of Police in the state, Sani Mohammed, who paraded the suspects in Lafia, said they abducted the Taiwanese in his farm on October 6.
Mohammed, who said the suspects were arrested following a tip-off, added that other suspects were at large and were being trailed.
He said a large amount of cash, one revolver pistol, two locally made pistols and five rounds of ammunition were recovered from the suspects.
Mohammed said investigations were ongoing and the suspects would be charged to court as soon as investigations were completed.
The commissioner assured residents that the command was determined to curtail criminal activities in the state.
Mohammed appealed to the populace to always volunteer useful information to the command for effective performance.
One of the suspects, who confessed to committing the crime, blamed his involvement on the devil.
He said his friend, now at large, introduced him to the crime, explaining that his friend provided the guns they used for the operation.
He said: “When we kidnapped the Taiwanese farmer, we kept him for three days until a ransom of N7 million was paid before we released him.
“We were eight that participated in the crime and my share of the deal was N500,000.”
