The Police Command in Niger has arrested two suspects over alleged armed robbery in Madalla, Suleja Local Government Area of the state.
The Commissioner of Police in the state, Adamu Usman, told the News Agency of Nigeria in Minna on Thursday that the command had also arrested two other persons for allegedly stealing N6 million.
Usman said that on September 29 at about 17:20 hours, police operatives attached to ‘C’ Division, Madalla,
arrested one Abdulhamid Aliyu a.k.a Dogon Soja of Kwankwashe area and Haruna Saleh of Madalla area.
He said two suspects were members a four-man gang who invaded a residence on September 28 at about 0100 hours armed with locally made gun and sticks when the occupants were asleep.
He explained that the suspects searched the house and handcuffed the occupants, robbed them of two phones; one infinix and Huawei cell phones, sum of N300,000 and also demanded a sum of N100,000 to release the phones.
The commissioner said that the suspects were later arrested and they confessed to the crime, while Dogon Soja and one other were initially arrested and charged to court in 2018 as leaders of the gang that killed one SP Omale of Borno State Police Command at Madalla Motel, but were later released by court.
The two phones were also recovered from them and efforts to arrest other members of the gang were on going.
He said that the suspects would be arraigned in court as soon as investigation is concluded.
Similarly on September at about 11:38 hours, police operatives attached to Area Command Minna arrested one Abdullahi Maikudi of Katsina State and Rabiu Abdullahi of Kano State.
The said Abdullahi Maikudi lodged in a hotel in Tegina where he met a businessman on September 25, whom he monitored and established a familiarity of brotherhood from the same state.
The suspect was able to offer the businessman a cup of tea laden with tramadol which made the man fall asleep.
The suspect later entered the man’s room and stole his bag containing about N6 million and fled to Kano State, where he met Rabiu Abdullahi who was aiding him to flee the country.
The two suspects were arrested at Fagge, Kano State and the sum of N3,850,000:00k and 410 cefas were recovered from them.
He said the case was under investigation and the suspects would be charged to court.
