Police arrest five over death of friend in Jigawa

The Police in Jigawa State have arrested five suspects over the death of their friend in Ringim Local Government Area of the state.

The Command’s Public Relations Officer, Jinjiri Abdu, confirmed the arrest to the News Agency of Nigeria in Dutse on Monday.

Jinjiri said one the suspects allegedly attacked the victim, identified as Ibrahim Hussani, with a knife.

He said that the incident occurred on July 12 at about 10:30pm in Ringim town.

He said: “On July 12, we received a report that the victim was allegedly attacked with knife by one of the suspects.

“It was gathered that the incident happened after one of the suspects’ phone got missing.

“It was in the middle of the argument that one of the suspects attacked the diseased with knife.”

According to Jinjiri, it was upon receipt of the report that the police immediately arrived at the scene where they found the victim unconscious.

Jinjiri said: “Unfortunately, he died few minutes after he was taken to General Hospital, Ringim, due to the injury he sustained.”

He said investigation into the case had commenced, after which the suspect would be charged to court.
