Facts emerged on Monday that the senatorial struggle between the former Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Delta State, Chief Peter Nwaoboshi, and Marian Ali, the wife of a former National Chairman of the party, Dr. Ahmadu Ali, may have been laid to rest.
With the names of Nwaoboshi on the list of the Independent National Electoral Commission for the upcoming senatorial election, the coast has been cleared for him.
The Eagle Online gathered in Asaba on Monday that the party’s governorship flag-bearer, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, would kick-off campaigns with the presentation of flags to the party’s flag bearers at the Oghara Township Stadium in Ethiope West Local Government Area of the state on Thursday.
And that those to be handed the flag include incumbent Senator James Manager, representing Delta South; the former Senior Special Adviser to Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan, Chief Ighoyota Amori; and Nwaoboshi.
“During the cast, the three senatorial candidates, 10 House of Representatives aspirants and 29 state House of Assembly, will receive their flags,” said Dr. Festus Okubor, the Chairman of the Media and Publicity Committee of the campaign saidon Monday.
While Okubor explained that Thursday’s rally marks the beginning of a state-wide campaign programme in the state, he hinted that the train across the 25 council headquarters “will not berth” until it is rounded off on February 4, with a grand finale in Asaba, the state capital.
