The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Bauchi State Command, says it is ready for any eventuality during and after the independence celebrations on Tuesday.
The Commander, Alhaji Shuayb Jibril, told the News Agency of Nigeria on Monday that although the corps was yet to be informed officially on the programme of the day, the personnel had been placed on on stand-by.
Jibril said the command had already serviced its vehicles and ready for operation so that things would go smoothly.
According to him, the NSCDC is on alert 24 hours and that whenever its services were needed, it would be ready.
He said: “As a security outfit, we are always ready for any eventuality and have already serviced our vehicles for necessary operations if required.
“We are on duty 24 hours.
“Therefore, our services are at disposal and the moment we are called to service we will respond promptly.”
He expressed the hope that this year’s celebration would be hitch-free throughout the country.
The Gombe State Government says the celebration will be low key and has called on people to pray for peace, unity and security of the country.
