Nigerians have been advised to remain vigilant and support the new government’s initiatives to combat terrorism and ensure security in the North East part of the country.
The Director General of the National Orientation Agency, Mike Omeri, gave the advice on Friday in Abuja in reaction to the resurgence of terrorist activities in Borno and Yobe States.
According to Omeri, residents of the affected areas should remain vigilant and be mindful of events around the environment to avert violent incidences.
He said: “This is not the time to let down our guards.”
Omeri added: “I appeal to our people especially those in the North East to remain vigilant and support the government and its new initiative to relocate the command and control centre to Maidugri for more effective operations. This is not the time to let down our guards because while the military is doing very well in the operation, citizens must continue to exercise due caution especially in crowd areas like markets and places of worship.”
He then called on Nigerians to continue to believe in the government and its capacity to defeat insurgency in the land.
