A former Director General of the Industrial Training Funds, Prof. Sambo Wapmuk, has said it baffles him to hear that shortly after he has left the organisation, it is said to be in a sorry stage.
Wapmuk said his expectation was that his successor would have better manage the Funds.
He said: “The ITF was better managed under my administration as the DG.”
Wapmuk, who handed over the leadership of the Fund to Dr. Juliet Chukas-Onaeko in May 2014, said he is not impressed with the conduct of his successor in running the affairs of the organisation, adding: “I never wish to join issues with her, but she has failed to use her experience to transform the place for quality service delivery.”
Wapmuk bares out his mind while speaking with journalists on Friday shortly after the swearing-in ceremony of new commissioners for the Plateau State Executive Council at Little Rayfield, Government House, Jos.
He expressed confidence that with the team of experienced persons put together as commissioners, the state would be on firm footing, advising that emphasis should be on capital development and job creation.
Wapmuk tasked Governor Simon Lalong to give more priority to revamping of vocational education and tackling grassroots poverty.
He said: “We don’t have skills training youths centres in the local governments and we also hope that the prime target is agriculture, which is very important.
“That will help our people to develop.”
