Metro Pro League campaigners, AS Racine, has emerged the winners of this year’s edition of the Lagos FA Cup.
The Emmanuel Ibru boys upset Nigeria National League side, First Bank FC, on 4-3 penalties at the Onikan Stadium on Sunday.
The tension soaked match produced no goal for the entire 90 minutes.
AS Racine’s dangerman and Metro Pro League Player of the Month in March, Gafar Lasisi, almost put his side ahead with several forays into the vital areas of the Bankers but red-eye First Bank defenders thwarted his attempts.
Elated AS Racine General Manager, Mojeed Adegbidin, stated that the club would adopt a scientific method to give the state an appreciable representation in Federation Cup.
Adegbidin’s words: “AS Racine has come to stay and the FA Cup win is a prove for our hard work over the years.
“We play in the Metro Pro League and the fair competition in the league prepared us for this victory.”
The FA Cup is AS Racine first trophy since 2001.
The club produced in-form Stoke City striker, Osaze Odemwingie, and other top stars in the country and all over Europe.
