South Africa 2013 Nations Cup hero and Super Eagles’ midfielder, Sunday Mba, has been shortlisted for this year’s edition of the League Bloggers Awards for the Glo Premier League, otherwise known as the Nigeria Professional Football League.
Other notable home Eagles’ lads that made the nomination are Rangers of Enugu goalkeeper, Chigozie Agbim, and Warri Wolves’ skipper, Azubuike Agwueke.
It will be a November to remember as outstanding actors in the NPFL vie for individual and club honours in 16 categories while Victor Namo will be crowned the leading scorer of the 2012/13 season.
This year the LBA has added seven new categories such as the Best Use of Social Media for clubs, Best Club Website, Fair Play Award, Best New Goalkeeper, Best Draft from Feeder Team, Best Feeder Team (Youth Development) and Goal of the Season.
Winners of each category will be announced at the awards night in Lagos this November.
In the 2012 edition of the LBA, former Kano Pillars midfielder, Gabriel Reuben emerged as the Player of the Season.
For this year, the nominees for the Player of the Season are Rabiu Ali (Kano Pillars), Oghenekaro Etebo (Warri Wolves) and Chinedu Udoji (Enyimba).
Interestingly, two of last year’s nominees in the Best Goalkeeper category were again nominated this year. They are Enyimba’s Femi Thomas and his Kano Pillars counterpart, Theophilus Afelokhai, who won it in the last edition.
The date and venue of this year’s edition will announced by the LBA this week.
