A Grade I Area Court, Dei-dei, Abuja, has sentenced Adeleye Jonathan to six months imprisonment for false self identification and criminal intimidation.
Jonathan was convicted and sentenced after pleading guilty to the charges against him.
He, however, begged the court for leniency.
The Judge, Sulyman Ola, gave Jonathan an option to pay a fine of N30,000.
Ola also ordered Jonathan to pay the complainant, Ogochukwu Favour, N52,000 compensation and warned him to desist from committing crimes.
Earlier, the Prosecution Counsel, Babajide Olanipekun told the court that Jonathan presented himself to Favour as Emmanuel Giwa, an officer with State Security Service (SSS) sometime in June.
Olanipekun said that Jonathan claimed to be an officer in a bid to deceive Favour into a relationship with him and defrauded her of N52,000.
The prosecution counsel added that when Favour discovered she was deceived by Jonathan, he threatened to kill her thereby putting her in a state of fear of death.
The offence, he said, contravened the provisions of Sections 179 and 397 of the Penal Code.
