The League Management Company is in a panic mode over the contempt charge from a Jos High Court.
The management had an emergency meeting on Wednesday after receiving the contempt charge.
It, however, could not come up with a clear cut decision on the next line of action.
It thus resolved to consult Senior Advocates of Nigeria for advice.
A Jos High Court had last week ordered the LMC to stop with immediate effect the ongoing Nigeria Premier Football League until it obeys its order to restore Giwa FC to the league.
The LMC, however, said it was not going to stop the league as ordered, claiming it was yet to receive the court order.
By the time the order eventually came on Wednesday, several highly placed persons within the LMC, especially those with legal background, are miffed that the body decided to spurn the order of the court.
The court is expected to serve Form 49 to the league body on Thursday.
This would see officials of the LMC, including the Chairman, Shehu Dikko, and the Chief Operating Officer, Salisu Abubakar, and the 19 premier league clubs face a contempt of court charge for deliberately disobeying the order of a court of a competent jurisdiction.
The contempt letter served on the LMC on September 6, 2016 reads: “In the High court of Justice of Plateau state holding at Jos, in the matter of an application by Mustafa Abubaka for himself and on behalf of Giwa Football Club limited, the applicant had sued the League management company limited, the Nigeria Football Federation and or the Nigeria football Association, through the Plateau football club limited for himself and on behalf of all the other nineteen football club in the Nigeria professional football league except Giwa football club, Jos.
“To Shehu Dikko, Chairman league management company limited, Salihu Abubakar, chief operating officer, league management company limited, Form 48 Notice of consequences of disobedience to order of court in pursuant to order 1s rule 13 of the judgement, enforcement rules. Take notice that unless you obey the directions contained in this orders (hereto) you will be guilty of contempt of court and will be liable to be committed to prison.”
