The member representing Ibadan North East/South East Federal Constituency in the National Assembly, Hon. Adedapo Lam-Adesina, has rejoiced with the Muslim community in his constituency and all over the country on the commencement of the Ramadan fast on the sighting of the new crescent moon, which is one of the five tenets and Islamic obligations instituted by Prophet Mohammed (SAW).
Lam-Adesina made his position known in a statement on Sunday.
He said: “As we mark the beginning of Ramadan, a month of fasting undertaken by Muslims during the ninth month of the Islamic calendar, I enjoin all to remember our Country, Nigeria in prayers especially the North Eastern part of the Country which have been bedeviled with insurgency and terrorism in the last five years, support the proactive steps taken by the federal government to return lasting peace to the region so that normal economic activities can be restored within the shortest period of this administration.
“We should also endeavour to pray for our leaders for God’s direction and knowledge, remembering President Muhammadu Buhari and Governor Abiola Ajimobi, the Executive Governor of Oyo State. We should also pray for our Federal Constituency to witness the positive changes as promised by our great party, the All Progressives Congress, and myself during the electioneering period.
“As for me, Ramadan should be a month of refreshment, reflection and spiritual repair where we commune with our Creator running from sunrise to sundown each day.”
Lam-Adesina counseled Muslim faithful to freely give material gifts to the less privileged in the society during this period, encourage unity and tolerance among the existing religions in the country.
