KWASU promotes nine to professor, associate professor cadres

The Kwara State University has promoted nine of its academic staff to the professorial and associate professor cadres.

This was contained in a statement by KWASU’s acting Director of University Relations, Dr Saidat Aliyu, on Friday.

Aliyu said the promotions were approved at the 59th Regular Meeting of the Governing Council of the university held on May 12.

He said: “Ratification of the promotions followed the recommendation of the Appointments and Promotions Committee (A&PC), which considered the reports of external assessors on the concerned staff.

“Five of them were promoted to the rank of professor, while the other four got promoted to associate professor rank.”

The statement said Olusola Oladele James, Department of Chemistry and Industrial Chemistry; Oluwasogo Olalubi, Department of Public Health; and Oluwabukola Christiana Dada, Department of Special Education, were now professors.

It also listed Mufutau Ajao, Department of Zoology, and AbdulRazaq Katibi of the Department of Arabic and Linguistics as the newly promoted professors.

It added: “The promoted associate professors are Gafar Olorisade, Shehu AbdulGaniyu, Moshood Zakariyah and Isiaka Aliagan of the departments of Educational Management, Agricultural Economics and Extension Services, English and Linguistics and Mass Communication, respectively.”
