. As President Jonathan orders combing of Rugu Forest by Armed Forces
President Goodluck Jonathan has directed the Armed Forces to comb the Rugu Forest in Katsina State and track down the gunmen that attacked innocent people on Thursday.
The attack was believed to have been carried out by Fulani herdsmen.
The President, who is on a two-day state visit to the state, spoke at a dinner reception organised for him by the Katsina State Government at the Government House Banquet Hall.
Gunmen numbering about 90 had invaded some villages in Katsina State, killing about 103 in Faskari Local Government Area.
The figure, initially 69, had risen to over 90 but as at press time climbed to 103.
The Rugu Forest borders Katsina, Zamfara, Niger and Kaduna States.
It also borders Niger Republic.
Jonathan lamented that the forest, meant for economic purposes, had turned to hideout for insurgents who are lau,ching attacks on the states
The President also ordered the National Emergency Management Agency to immediately provide relief materials to the affected villagers.
