The Kaduna State House of Assembly on Tuesday approved the extension of the tenure of the 22 interim management chairmen in the state with exception of Kaduna South.
The decision followed a request sent by Governor Nasiru el-Rufai to the Assembly seeking the extension of their tenure for six months.
Alhaji Abdulwahab Idris, a member, representing Ikara, seconded the motion for its approval, saying that the request was a straight forward one which the assembly should approve.
Alhaji Mohammed Dan Asabe, a member, also supported the motion to extend the chairmen’s tenure.
The assembly announced that the governor had nominated Alhaji Mohammed Sulaiman as the new interim chairman of Kaduna South Local Government.
The interim chairmen were appointed in March and their tenure was to have expired in September.
The sitting, presided over by the Speaker, Alhaji Aminu Shagali, approved the extension and directed the Clerk to communicate the approval to the governor for further actions.
