The Gusau Local Government Council in Zamfara State has procured and distributed 500 forms of the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board to secondary school leavers from the area.
The council Chairman, Alhaji Ibrahim Tanko, made this known on Thursday while addressing the beneficiaries at JAMB registration center in Gusau.
Tanko said that the gesture was in line with the council’s policy to provide education support to indigenes of the area.
According to him, 500 secondary school leavers who are going to be given the forms free were selected across the political wards of the area.
He said: “In each of the wards we have in the Local Government Area, we selected candidates for this gesture through the councilor representing them.
“We came up with this project under our education support programme to support our youths who have finished their secondary schools and willing to enroll into various tertiary institutions in the country.
“We noticed that majority of our youths want go to school but due to lack of financial support, they could not continue with their schools.’’
He said that apart from JAMB forms, the council would give scholarship to students from the area, saying that the council supported over 200 students studying at various tertiary institutions across the country.
The council chairman, therefore, urged youths from the area to embrace education, and shun all forms of political thuggery and violence.
