Gulder Ultimate Search winner shot dead in Lagos

The winner of the 2006 Gulder Ultimate Search, Hector Joberteh, was on Saturday shot dead in Lagos, the Nigerian Tribune is reporting.
The highly authoritative newspaper said the Gulder Ultimate Search winners had gone out in the early hours of Saturday to pick a relative from the Muritala Mohammed International Airport, Lagos State.
It was suggested that Joberteh’s assailants had trailed him from the airport to his home, where he was eventually killed.
Eyewitnesses report that two men had forcibly gained entrance into the compound where Joberteh lived and questioned a few residents for his whereabouts and when he eventually showed up, opened fire.
His father was also said to have been shot in the hand and is currently recuperating in the hospital.
Joberteh’s wife, also a former contestant of the GUS competition, is said to be living abroad and was not home at the time of the attack.
The couple got married in 2013.
