Governor Abubakar Sani Bello of Niger State has described the Etsu Nupe and Chairman Niger State Council of Traditional Rulers, Alhaji Yahaya Abubakar as a bridge builder as he clocks 70 and marks 19 years of his ascension to the throne as the 13th Etsu Nupe.
Governor Bello in a congratulatory message signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Mary Noel Berje, described the Etsu Nupe as true, loving, courageous and a peaceful leader whose immense contributions to unity, peaceful coexistence and development of the society is reckoned with in the state, Nigeria and beyond.
He also acknowledged the fatherly role of the monarch whose inspiring counsel which has kept the government and nongovernmental organisations on track especially as it affects decision making and policy formulations aimed at promoting good governance.
“The reign of Etsu Nupe in the last 19 years has brought about harmonious coexistence and promoted the rich cultural heritage of the Nupe Kingdom. You are no doubt a gift to the society.”
In a similar vein, the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Niger State Council in a statement issued by the Secretary, Comrade Usman Chiji on behalf of the Chairman, Comrade Abu Nmodu and entire journalists felicitated with Etsu Nupe on his 70th birthday and 19th anniversary on the throne.
The statement noted with satisfaction that, Etsu Nupe was able to place Nupe land in the comity of recongnised and respected languages in the world.
The union described Alhaji Yahaya Abubakar as a father, lover of peace, emancipator of the downtrodden, media friendly traditional ruler, and a voice for the voiceless in the society.
The union prayed the Almighty God to grant the traditional ruler more fruitful years of sound health, wisdom and economic prosperity and to continue to serve God and humanity.
The NUJ Niger state Council then reassured of its support and cooperation to Etsu Nupe as the leadership would continue to seek his fatherly advice and counseling for the good of the union, media industry and the state as a whole.
