The Kwara State Governor, Dr. Abdulfatah Ahmed, has commended the Federal Government for its efforts at sustainable job creation for the teeming youths of the country through N-Power.
Speaking during a courtesy visit to him by the National Coordinator of N-Power and Senior Special Adviser to the President on Job Creation and Youth Empowerment, Afolabi Imoukhuede, at Government House, Ilorin, Ahmed said the state government will partner with the Federal Government to ensure the programme succeeds.
“We are advocates for the youths and the less privileged and will spare no effort to support programmes that would empower youth and make them self-reliant,” Ahmed pledged, adding that such programme requires articulated monitoring to ensure success.
Ahmed said his administration has also evolved programmes that are similar to N-Power, driven under various platforms to find jobs for the teaming youths across the state.
Such programmes, according to the governor, include the establishment of the International Vocational Training and Entrepreneurs College, Ajasse-Ipo, and acquisition of 2,500 hectares of land for youths farming to reduce unemployment in the state.
Afolabi Imoukhuede said he was in the state to monitor the N-Power programme, which was initiated by the federal government to create job, wealth and empower the youths.
