Nigeria’s Ndidi Winifred picked a silver medal in women’s 58kg weightlifting event at the ongoing Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland on Saturday.
Winifred, who injured her wrist at the last edition of the Games in New Delhi, totalled 206kg in snatch, clean and jerk event to mount the podium in Scotland.
The Nigerian girl finished behind England’s Zoe Smith, who created a new Commonwealth Games record, lifted 210kg, while Michaela Breeze of Wales placed third with 202kg.
Nigeria is currently placed 18th on the Games medals standing, with one gold, one silver and one bronze in their kitty.
Winifred’s compatriot, Chika Amalaha, won a gold medal in the women’s 53kg weightlifting event on Friday.
