German football Coach, Bernd Schuster, has been included in the five-man shortlist to be considered for the vacant Black Stars coaching position, according to the Ghana Football Association.
It said on its website on Monday that the inclusion of the former Real Madrid manager followed the withdrawal of Dutchman Patrick Kluivert.
The German will undergo an interview at a date to be determined by both parties.
The five coaches were shortlisted for consideration for the vacant position of coach of the Black Stars, the senior national football team following a “thorough work” by a three-man committee set up to look for a new coach.
With the withdrawal of Kluivert, the others still in the race are Israeli Avram Grant, who is a former coach of English premiership side, Chelsea; Italian Marco Tardelli; former Swiss assistant coach, Michel Pont; and Spaniard Juan Ignacio Martinez.
Pont and Tardelli would be interviewed on October 17, while Grant and Jimenez would be interviewed on October 18, GFA said.
Argentine Ricardo Gareca remains on standby in the event another of those listed does not show up.
The position became vacant after Ghanaian Kwesi Appiah was axed unexpectedly a few weeks ago.
Appiah became the first Ghanaian to take the Black Stars to the World Cup but the team performed dismally, failing to go beyond the group stage.
Some critics say he lost the dressing room as some of the players openly showed disrespect to him.
They also questioned his technical competence.
The performance of the Black Stars in the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil was marked by indiscipline by the players and a huge dispute over money.
The problem forced the government to fly cash in excess of $3 million to the team in Brazil as their appearance fees.
Two key players, Sulley Muntari and Kevin-Prince Boateng, were sacked from the squad on the day Ghana played its last match in the group stage against Germany.
A commission appointed by the government to investigate the performance of the Black Stars at the tournament Cup has been sitting in Accra.
