Governor Mukhtar Yero of Kaduna State on Wednesday raised the alarm over the use of his phone number by fraudsters to extort money from the public.
Yero, in a statement issued by his Director-General on Media and Publicity, Alhaji Ahmed Maiyaki, said his line was hacked by the fraudsters.
Maiyaki said: “Governor Yero has not directly or through any third party asked people to make deposit into certain bank accounts.
“Suspected fraudsters have obviously hacked the governor’s phone number and are using it to defraud unsuspecting people.”
Maiyaki, therefore, advised the general public to disregard any message or text purportedly from the governor to part with their “hard earned money”.
