FCT polls: Security agencies enforce movement restriction order

Security forces on Saturday enforced the restriction order placed on people’s movement in the FCT during area council elections.
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the security agencies disallowed unauthorised vehicles from plying the roads.
On Nyanya-Mararaba Road, for instance, many vehicles were seen parked by the roadside, particularly near the Military Checkpoint, in the Nyanya axis of the road.
All vehicular movements were prohibited between 7am and 4pm on Saturday because of the election.
NAN, however, observed that none of the motorists who flouted the no-movement order was arrested but they were only prevented from moving further.
The security situation in the Abuja Municipal Council was tight as security agents were on hand to enforce law and order in all the polling units visited.
A party agent, Sunny Tijani, who spoke to NAN at Lugbe, said the security agents did not harass any voters or party agents.
Besides, Tijani commended the police, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps and other security agencies for deploying adequate personnel to provide security at the various polling units.
