Three former Attorneys General and Commissioners for Justice in Plateau State have dragged the administration of Governor Jonah Jang to court over a N28.8 billion loan.
The case, which is before a Federal High Court sitting in Jos, the Plateau State capital, was filed by Luka D. Dalang and two others Vs the Attorney General of Plateau State and 18 others.
Hearing in the case will commence on April 29, 2015.

When the case was mentioned, Justice Ambrose Alagua of the Federal High Court granted the prayers of the plaintiffs seeking to prevent banks from granting such requests from the government.
The court warned the banks against breaching the order.
Addressing journalists after the court proceeding at the Federal High Court premises, Barrister Garba Pwaul (SAN), the plaintiffs counsel, said there is an interim order stopping banks from granting loan to Governor Jang due to the limited time frame he has to stay in office.
Pwaul pointed out that the administration has barely five weeks in office so accessing the funds may be colossal loss for the incoming government.
According to him: “We believe that no meaningful development can be carried out with such a huge amount so the loan will not be in the interest of the state.
“The people should not allow such money to be taken away where there is not good faith attached to it.”
Garba explained further that the N28.8 billion was yet to be accessed by the Jang regime, but if the banks went ahead to grant the loan, it will amount to contempt of court, which is punishable by law.
