The Leader of the Senate, Senator Ali Mohammed Ndume, has stated that the elites are on the move to set the masses against President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration.
Ndume, in a chat with journalists on the economic situation in the country, said there is a deliberate attempt by the elites to set the government against the masses.
He said this followed the discovery by the elites of the support base of the administration.
The Senate Leader wondered what the price of dollars have to do with garri, maize and tomatoes that are produced locally in Nigeria, with the prices skyrocketing when foreign exchange rose.
According to him, the elites are deliberately sabotaging the Buhari’s administration in order to make the All Progressives Congress government unpopular.
He explained that Buhari’s administration has made significant progress in the area of war against insurgency, war against corruption and infrastructure decadence in Nigeria.
The Senate Leader said on Monday: “If not for the saboteurs, Nigerians would have been reaping the dividend of electing President Buhari.
“Otherwise, what has the fall of Naira has do with millet, tomatoes and other locally produced commodities?
“It is understandable that the price is affected.
“We are working hard on the 2016 Budget and in it the President has included things that would enhance the living conditions of Nigerians.
“We will pass the budget in March.”
