Abuja fans in their thousands invaded the Abuja National Stadium pitch on Wednesday to celebrate the Super Eagles’ hard-earned 3-1 win over their Sudanese counterparts in the AFCON 2015 qualifier.
Just as they centre referee sounded the final whistle, which signified the African Champions win over the Central African side, the fans encroached in overwhelming excitement.
It was an unexpected twist in the turn of events and in a bid to express their happiness, some people were pushed down.
It however took the timely intervention of security men to restore normalcy and also ensure that the Super Eagles players and their opponents are protected at the arena.
The pitch invasion may attract the Confederation of African Football sanction on Nigeria.
