Don’t subvert Fayemi’s administration, cleric tells detractors

The Chief Missioner of Ansar-Ur-Deen in Ekiti State, Sheik Ameen Adebayo, has told politicians in the state not to engage in acts capable of distracting the Dr. Kayode Fayemi-led administration or subverting the peace and tranquility currently enjoyed in the state.
Adebayo said this at an Inter-Religious Thanksgiving Service for the New Year held at the Government House Grounds, Ado Ekiti on Wednesday.
The cleric said the detractors should let the governor be in order to focus on the developmental strides of the administration, which, according to him, had become evident in many aspects of the state.
The new year thanksgiving, an annual event in the state, was attended by principal officials of government, state commissioners and permanent secretaries as well as civil servants and representatives of the Council of Traditional Rulers.
Adebayo stated that Fayemi’s administration is performing well as many roads have been constructed while the streets of Ado Ekiti are now aglow with streetlights and the citizens also live in peace and harmony.
He added that many people-oriented programmes, including the social security scheme for the elderly, among others show that the administration is out to better the lot of the masses.
While stating that the administration has succeeded in restoring relative peace to the state, the cleric recalled that the State of Emergency declared in the state in 2006 was unwarranted and called for the avoidance of such as it slowed down the pace of development.
Adebayo warned some politicians who pretend to love the masses to desist from any act that could pitch the people against the government.
He said they should wait for their own time but allow Fayemi deliver on his promises.
Other clerics that also ministered at the service, including Rev. Kunle Salami of the Chapel of Glory; Rev. Keji Bolarinwa of the Baptist Church; Chief Imam, Ekiti State, Alhaji Jamiu kehulere Bello; and Alhaji Awiye Olowoyo, harped on the need to maintain the current level of peace in the state, even as they lauded the government for its developmental efforts and prayed for greater development in 2013.
Fayemi attributed the success of his administration in the last two years to God and the support of the people of the state.
Fayemi, who was represented by his wife, Erelu Bisi Fayemi, said government would not relent in its duties to protect the people from bad governance and oppression, adding that this was why his administration has committed itself to the welfare of thee people.
He added that his administration is set to consolidate its achievements and empower the people, adding that poverty would be put to flight in 2013.
