There was confusion on Tuesday at the primaries of the Peoples Democratic Party in Delta North Senatorial District of Delta State as members of the Electoral Panel walked out of the venue.
Though details of why the Electoral Panel members staged the walkout were sketchy as at press time, the counting of the votes for the election was eventually conducted by the Chairman of the PDP in Isoko South, Malik Ikporkpor.
The walkout of the panel members led to an uproar at the venue.
The police had to use tear gas to disperse the PDP members at the primaries venue and restore order.
Ikporkpor declared a former Chairman of the party in Delta State, Peter Nwaoboshi, as the winner of the primaries.
Nwaoboshi was said to have scored 138 votes.
Maryam Nneamaka Ali, wife of a former National Chairman of the PDP, Dr. Ahmadu Ali, was the only other contestant.
Ali had four votes.
