The race to succeed Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan of Delta State has assumed a new dimension.
Women, numbering over 500, led by the first Lady of the state, Deaconess Roli Nere Uduaghan, on Sunday stepped up prayers, calling on the unquenchable fire of the Holy Spirit to consume anyone who will trouble the state in a desperate bid to succeed the governor.
The women, who met at the Unity Hall, Government House, Asaba, invoked the powers of God on all enemies of the state, especially those who will impose a successor on the state, home and abroad.
The Guest Pastor, Funmi Aransiola of the Gethsemane World Prayer Centre, Ibadan, Oyo State, who led the women drawn the 25 Local Government Areas of the state as early as 8am in prayer session, wondered why “agents of darkness” were bent on attracting adversity to the fast developing state.
Relying on relevant scriptural passages, including Colossian 6:4, and 2 Thessalonians 1:6, which emphasised that only candidates without impediments should aspire to the position of authority and Psalm 35, prayed that the soul of the state will be delivered from the grip of those they described as “ungodly” but masquerading as “messiahs”.
According to Aransiola, the insurgencies of the Boko Haram is the fulfillment of the edict of Pharaoh and Herod, who ordered the killing every first born son and slaughter of new born babies in their time respectively, but were later put to shame by the mighty hands of God.
She called on all men and women of faith who desire the unity of Nigeria to step up supplication to God on the sect.
She prayed: “Agents of darkness leave Delta State alone.
“We decree from this moment that every imperfection in those jostling for the soul of the state, come 2015, is considered, set on fire, even as every recruiting agent of imposition remains caged. Amen!”
Flanked by Juliet, the wife of Senator James Manager, representing Delta South Senatorial District, where Governor Uduaghan hails from, the state’s First Lady, who received new converts into the Master Key Prayer Ministry, of which she is a founder, and prayed with those who renewed their faith in Jesus Christ, maintained that God would not allow the prevailing peace in the state to be truncated in the name of 2015 governorship race.
She prayed for mercy and forgiveness on behalf of the state and beseeched God to cause every unseen hand permuting evil ahead of the election in the state to wither.
