Defection saga: Gov. Aliyu ejects deputy from Government House

As the rift between them deepens, the Niger Gtate Governor, Dr. Mu’azu Babangida Aliyu, has ejected his deputy, Ahmed Musa Ibeto, from his office at Government House, Minna.
Aliyu has directed Ibeto to relocate to ‘F’ Layout Quarters, a public residential area about 1,500 meters away from the Government House premises.
It should be recalled that Ibeto’s relationship with his boss has been frosty since his defection from the Peoples Democratic Party to the All Progressives Congress in January.
One of the Deputy Governor’s aides, who pleaded anonymity, confirmed to The Eagle Online that a letter signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Sa’idu Ndako, directed the Deputy Governor to relocate to the new office with immediate effect.
The relocation letter that was issued on Friday, gives the deputy governor until Monday (today) to relocate to his new office.
According to the source, the Deputy Governor was asked to relocate because the state government wanted to effect renovation on the office of the deputy governor.
The source added that the new deputy governor’s office was not habitable as the new office lacks air conditioner facilities, stand-by generator, portable water and the room could not even accommodate his furniture, “not to talk of other materials”.
He added that already, the office of the Deputy Governor had complained to the state government that the renovation work carried out on the new office was poorly done.
When contacted, Ibeto told journalists that he travelled out of Minna and was yet to confirm the authenticity of the letter directing him to relocate from the Government House.
However, the Chief Press Secretary to Aliyu, Israel Ebije, dismissed the claim of ejection of the deputy governor by his boss.
Ebije explained that due to the general renovation at Government House, the Deputy Governor was duly informed to relocate to an alternative accommodation.
According to him: “As you know, renovation works on the Protocol Department has just been completed and it is the turn of the building of the Deputy Governor’s office.
“It is not true that the deputy governor was ejected from his office.”
