A Magistrates’ Court in Ilorin on Thursday ordered that a man, Charles Ohanele, be remanded in Mandala Correctional Centre for allegedly sodomizing seven-year-old boy.
The police charged Ohanele with unnatural offence contrary to Section 377 of the Penal Code Law.
Magistrate Afusat Alege, did not take the plea of Ohanele for want in jurisdiction.
Alege directed the police to return the case file to the Kwara Director of Public Prosecutions for legal advice.
She adjourned the matter until May 10.
Earlier, the Prosecution Counsel, DSP Mathew Ologbonsaye, told the court that the matter was reported by the mother of the victim who resides in GRA Ilorin.
He said that investigation conducted at the Juvenile Welfare Centre Gender Child protection Unit, revealed that Ohanele, popularly known as Papa, lured the victim to his house with a promise to give him biscuit.
Ologbonsaye prayed the court to remand Ohanele, premising his prayer on the fact that the offence is not ordinarily bailable.
