President Muhammadu Buhari on Wednesday swore-in newly appointed members of the Police Service Commission, PSC, and a National Commissioner of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the exercise followed the confirmation of the appointments of the affected officers by the Senate.
The Senate had on July 17 confirmed the appointment of former Inspector-General of Police, Alhaji Musiliu Smith and six others as the Chairman and members of the Police Service Commission respectively.
Those sworn-in by President Buhari at the occasion, which preceded the meeting of the Federal Executive Council, included: the Chairman of PSC, Alhaji Musiliu Smith; Justice Clara Ogunbiyi, North-East and Lawal Bawa, North-West.
The others were: Muhammad Naja’atu, North-West; Braimaoh Austin, South-South; Rommy Mom, North-Central; and Dr Nkemka Jombo-Ofo, South-East.
Barrister Festus Okoye, a human right activist, was also sworn in as INEC National Commissioner by the president at the event which was witnessed by Vice-President, Yemi Osinbajo and other members of the Federal Executive Council.
