The Supreme Court has dismissed the plea by the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in the 2023 elections, Atiku Abubakar, to file fresh evidence against President Bola Tinubu.
The apex court described the fresh petition by the former Vice President as a friendly joke, insisting that could not be granted.

According to the apex court, the case was filed out of time and could not prove cause of forgery.
Justice Inyang Okoro said time allotted to election petitions “is fixed like the Rock of Gibraltar that cannot be extended or expanded”.
Justice Okoro said the appellants did not apply for an extension of time or apply to amend their appeal and introduce the issue of forgery — and even if they did, it would not have been granted.
He said the deposition of CSU has no place in deciding the issues in the petition.
“Since the lower court (tribunal) no longer has jurisdiction, this supreme court does not have jurisdiction to entertain the application,” Okoro said.
