The outlawed Boko Haram sect on Saturday night went on rampage in Borno and Adamawa States, slaughtering over 155 persons, Nigeria’s prestigious newspaper, ThisDay, reported on its website on Sunday in two separate stories.
In the attack on a village in Borno State, Izge, in Gwoza Local Government Area on Saturday evening, over 90 persons were reported killed.
Several others have fled the village.
Sources revealed to journalists on Sunday in Maiduguri, the Borno State capital, that the hoodlums laid siege to the hilly village, killing at will and inflicting severe injuries on the residents.
One of the sources said many of the villagers were currently missing while those lucky to be alive have started moving in droves out of the village.
Also on Saturday night, no fewer than 65 persons were killed in eight villages of Madagali Local Government Area of Adamawa State by suspected members of Boko Haram.
An eyewitness, Adamu Bulama, said he saw over 40 corpses with gunshot wounds, apart from those who were slaughtered in their houses that he could not count.
Another source from Yazza village also said he saw about 25 persons who were slaughtered by members of the sect, adding that he and others narrowly escaped the gunmen who were in their numbers killing innocent persons on Saturday night.
