Army redeploys, retires senior officers

The Nigeria Army on Wednesday announced the redeployment of 13 officers and retirement of nine senior officers.
The redeployment list was released in a statement issued by the Director of Army Public Relations, Brigadier General Ibrahim Attahiru, in Abuja.
Attahiru described the development as part of routine posting of officers in the armed forces.
The statement listed the affected officers to include, Major General S.U. Abdul-Kadir, the Commander of the Training and Doctrine Command; and Major General P.J. Isang, the Chief of Training and Operations, Defence Headquarters.
Others are, Maj.-Gen. FM Airende, the Commander, Corps of Electrical and Mechanical Engineers; and Maj.- Gen. HIO Ayoola, the Chief of Research and Development, Defence Headquarters.
The list also included Maj.-Gen. Jah Ewansiha, the Chief of Standards and Evaluations, Army Headquarters; and Maj.-Gen. D.D. Enetie, the Commander Special Task Force (Operations Safe Heaven).
Also affected are Maj.-Gen. O.T. Ethan, the General Officer Commanding, 7 Division; Maj.-Gen. H.A. Saliu, the Corps Commander, Artillery; Maj.-Gen. A.O. Adekanye, the Coordinator, Nigerian Army Special Vehicle Plans; and Maj.-Gen. T.I. Dibi, the Commander, Army Headquarters Garrison.
Others affected by the posting are Brig-.Gen. M.L. Raji, the Acting Director, Peacekeeping Operations, Defence Headquarters; Brig.-Gen. B.Y. Bukar, the Acting Director of Transformation, Defence Headquarters; Brig.-Gen. A.O. Odidi, the Acting Commandant, Nigerian Army School of Electrical and Mechanical Engineers; and Brig.-Gen. R.O. Bamigboye, the Deputy Director of Operations, Defence Headquarters.
The statement also said that in line with the Armed Forces Harmonised Terms and Condition of Service of Officers, the Army Council recently accepted the voluntary retirement of some senior officers.
The officers affected are Maj.-Gens. L.P. Ngubane, N.C. Maduegbunam, B.M. Monguno, O.A.C. Ariahu, A.K. Kwaskebe and C.O. Ugwu.
Affected in the voluntary retirement also are Brig.- Gens. E.D. Amah, M.M. Dan-Ali and M.A. Hassan among others.
The statement advised members of the media to always endeavour to clarify issues with the appropriate authority before rushing to the press, to achieve balanced reporting.
