Hon. Joseph Kunini, the Majority Leader of the Taraba House of Assembly, on Wednesday rejected the resolution of the Peoples Democratic Party fact-finding committee that Alhaji Garba Umar should continue as the state’s acting Governor.
Kunini said this at a news conference in Jalingo, the Taraba State capital, alleging that the committee had violated a court order of June 4, which restrained it from investigating the health condition of Governor Danbaba Suntai.
Kunini called on President Goodluck Jonathan to “use his wealth of experience and authority to ensure that the matter is settled as provided by the constitution.”
“We also want Taraba people and other Nigerians to disregard Hope Uzodima’s committee’s pronouncement on Taraba as it lacks the powers to do so.”
The majority leader was accompanied by seven of the 24 members of the assembly.
They were Messrs Charles Maijankai, Istifanus Gbana, Abel Diah, Daniel Gani, Mark Useni, Charles Audu and Gambo Maikudi.
Suntai returned to the state on August 25 after 10 months of medical treatment abroad, following his involvement in a plane crash in October 2012.
