Anichebe vows to lift West Brom

Super Eagles’ and goal hero, Victor Anichebe, has vowed to lift West Brom Albion to a safe spot on the English Premier League log.
The forward also issued a rallying call to Albion fans after his equaliser rescued a potentially crucial point against Liverpool.
Anichebe pounced on a Kolo Toure howler to earn the Baggies a draw against the Reds and ignite the passions of a previously subdued Hawthorns.
And the 25-year-old, whose strike took Pepe Mel’s side a point clear of the Premier League relegation zone, said: “The fans really need to get behind us. I could see their frustration and I could understand it because we shouldn’t be where we are.
“But even when things are going badly we need them to stick behind us. We’re frustrated and they’re frustrated but everyone needs to urge each other on and we’ll keep doing as well as we can.
“I said before the game that we needed a result because of all the other results that went against us.
“A lot of people must have written us off and probably didn’t think we’d get anything. But we showed what a strong team we are and showed our resilience.
“But there’s no point blowing our own trumpets over a draw, next week is a really important game and there will be a lot of those over the rest of the season.
“But we’re still learning all the time. We’ve got a new manager and he’s teaching us different things but it will come.”
Anichebe, a £6 million summer signing grabbed the second goal of his injury-blighted Baggies career.
And the committed WBA side was delighted to get the goal to deny Liverpool victory.
“It’s always nice to score, especially as my last goal was a while ago against Manchester City,” he said.
“I haven’t really played much since then but I went on Sunday and helped the team get a good result.
“I’ve always said I can do well if I can stay fit.”
