Anambra: NDLEA convicts 10 drug peddlers

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency says it secured 10 convictions of drug peddlers in March following the prosecution of drug suspects in Anambra.
Odigie Charles-Efosa, Public Relations Officer of the agency in the state, made the disclosure in a statement issued in Awka on Thursday.
The NDLEA spokesperson said that the convicts including a female were jailed between one year and five years by two Federal High Courts sitting in Awka, the Anambra capital.
He said that that the Federal High Courts were presided over by Justice B. O. Quadri and I. B. Gafai respectively.
According to him, the convicts were sentenced to jail for different drug offences which included cocaine, heroin and cannabis sativa.
The convicts include Ossai Chima, 24, years, who was sentenced to three years imprisonment, Chibuzor Obiora , 30, sentenced to two years imprisonment while Kenneth Eze Okonkwo, 47, is to serve five years in prison.
Others are Sunday Eze 25, jailed for two years, Azubike Obieze, 25, is to spend two years in jail while Ifeanyi Nwodogwu, 22, was sentenced to two years imprisonment.
The list also include Nwachukwu Chekwube, 22, to two years imprisonment,  Samuel Godwin, 27, sentenced to two years imprisonment and Ifeanyi Ogbonna 39 years male to  one year imprisonment while the only female Awelle Maduike, 45, is serving three years imprisonment,.
The statement quoted NDLEA Commander in the state, Sule Momodu, to have warned drug peddlers to desist from the sale, trafficking and abuse of hard drugs in the state.
He added that culprits caught in the act would be made to face the wrath of the law.
