Juwon Oshaniwa will visit friends in London during the international break as his absence from the Nigeria squad continues.
Oshaniwa’s last cap came almost a year ago and he isn’t included for this week’s friendlies against Democratic Republic of Congo and Cameroon.
He is confident, however, that playing consistently at Hearts will earn him a recall.
“I have won the Africa Cup of Nations for my country. I’ve played a lot of games in the biggest fiesta [the World Cup] so I’m not worried, I’m not bothered. I just keep doing what I’m doing,” said the player.
“At no time have I been disappointed because Nigeria is a great nation for football. There are a lot of players and there is a new gaffer who is handling the national team. He needs to be given a lot of time. Nigeria have a lot of players playing abroad so he needs to get time to watch over some people and to try some players out. This is what he said he wants to do – give players some trials and see so that he knows what he is doing. Maybe, when a major tournament is coming up, then he will beckon the usual faces.”
