The Nigerian Medical Association will at the end of this month unveil the speaker of the House of Representative, Rt. Hon. Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, as the ‘face of healthy living in Nigeria’.
Dr. Osahon Enabulele, the NMA President, in a statement in Abuja, on Tuesday, said the decision is part of the association’s campaign to promote health consciousness in Nigeria.
Osahon said: “History would be made on Friday 30th August, 2013 in Sokoto when NMA would as part of her campaign to promote health consciousness in Nigeria will unveil the speaker as the face of healthy living in Nigeria.
“We are medical doctors and dentist and as chief custodians of the health of the good people of Nigeria, have noted that there is an urgent need to wake up every Nigerian to the task of taking health issues very seriously being convinced that there is a role, sometimes cross cutting, for everyone to perform in securing the health of the individual, family, community and therefore the nation.
“For some time now, most people have misconstrued the task of guardianship of health to be the exclusive responsibility of government at all levels to the point of living carelessly and neglecting themselves to the point of disability and untimely death.”
