Omoyele Sowore, the Presidential Candidate of the African Action Congress, who is a serial marathon runner, has been
confirmed as one of the speakers at the 2019 Access Bank Lagos City Marathon media seminar.
The media seminar is scheduled for January 28 at the Sports Bar, Teslim Balogun Stadium, in Lagos.
The 42km race is scheduled for February 2.
In a statement signed by Olukayode Thomas, the Head of Communications and Media for the race, it said that Sowore, who has participated in several marathons across the world, would be sharing his experience in road races.
The statement also said that the likes of Kweku Tandoh, the Executive Chairman, Lagos State Sports Commission, would be speaking on the Lagos State Government and the Future of Marathons and Road Races.
Bukola Olopade, the race Consultant, would also shed more light on how the marathon became a global brand within three years.
Other speakers to feature at the seminar are: Solomon Alao, the Chairman, Lagos Athletics Association, who would reel out plans to boost tourism and trade with marathons and road races in Lagos.
Roseline Eyenike; a marathoner, would speak on the expectations of runners from Journalists after completing the 42 km race.
Steve Osuji, member, Editorial Board of the Nation Newspapers and author, `Not too Old to Run,’ would talk about the pros and cons of running at 50 years and above.
Debo Oshundun, the Chairman, Lagos SWAN, would also be in attendance, alongside Yusuf Alli, General Manager of the marathon, who will intimate journalists on the do’s and don’ts of the 2019 edition,’’ the statement said.
It also said that the first set of award winners would be honoured for their reportage of the Lagos.
