Lobi Stars Football Club of Markurdi on Sunday picked a point in Match Day 19 of the Nigeria Professional Football League against Sunshine Stars of Akure.
The match played at the Ondo State Sports Complex ended 1-1 with Lobi Stars getting the first goal through Samad Kadri in the 88th minute before Jide Fatokun equalised in the 90th minute for the home team.
The match had ended in a stalemate as at half time.
Sikiru Alimi, Sunshine Stars attacker, had missed a glorious chance from the spot to go ahead in the 49th minute.
Henry Abiodun, Sunshine Stars Coach, who told newsmen that he was not happy with the result of the match, however, expressed satisfaction that his team got the one point that almost eluded it in the dying minutes.
Abiodun said just like other coaches, he was under pressure to achieve good results.
He commended the officiating at the match, expressing optimism on further improvement from match officials in the league.
Solomon Ogbeide, Lobi Stars coach, in his post-match interview, noted that all coaches have game plans, saying, “coaching Sunshine Stars before is not a plus for him to have picked a point”.
Ogbeide said his game plan was to soak pressure and play counter attacking football.
Sunshine Stars now have 21 points from 19 matches.
