The Niger State Deputy Governor, Hon. Ahmed Musa Ibeto, on Monday disclosed that the aspirant being flaunted as endorsed for the governorship by his boss, Governor Babangida Aliyu, has not been so crowned.
Ibeto said the aspirant, who is also seeking the ticket of the Peoples Democratic Party just like himself, is not the governor’s choice.
Ibeto gave this shocker when he declared to contest for PDP gubernatorial race in Niger State at the Chanchaga PDP Secretariat, Minna.
Ibeto, while responding to questions at a press conference on Aliyu’s purported endorsed candidate, Umar Nasko, said the governor’s recommendation for a candidate is not compulsory for the electorate.
According to him: “Governor Aliyu’s endorsed candidate is not the preferred candidate.
“It is only after the primaries that everyone’s choice will emerge.
“My boss, the governor of Niger State, has even given me the go ahead to start lobbying delegates and do campaigns.
“Governor Aliyu said he recommended his candidate for endorsement, but assured me that I should contest.
“It is the state congress that will determine who should represent the party by 2015.
“We are nine aspirants and I know that we are all competent to be the governor but insha Allah, I am the most qualified and Governor Aliyu knows that.”
Ibeto however assured the people of the state that he will consolidate on his boss’ strides.
He said: “I will improve on what my boss and I have done in the past seven years.
“Everyone is bound to make mistakes.
“Where he has succeeded, I will capitalise on and where he has lapses, I will ensure I work and improve on them.”
