1,000 women journalists expected in Lagos for triennial confab

No fewer than 1,000 women journalists will converge on Badagry, Lagos State in May for the Triennial National Delegates Conference of the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists.
The conference is billed to hold between May 16 and 18, the association said in a statement issued by Iyabode Ogunjuyigbe, the Head of Logistics and Protocol.
The statement said the conference, with the theme: “Career Women and Nation Development,” will usher in a new set of leaders to steer the affairs of NAWOJ for the next three years.
It said the conference will hold at Administrative Staff College of Nigeria.
The statement said that the Director-General of ASCON, Ajibade Peters, would deliver a keynote address on the topic: “Role of Career Women in Nation Development.”
It said that the association would also hold a pre-conference dinner at Sheraton Hotel and Towers, Lagos, to honour outstanding performance of some eminent Nigerians.
The statement said the awardees included a former Governor of Lagos State, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu; Governor Rotimi Amaechi of Rivers State and Governor Adams Oshiomhole of Edo State.
Others are Dr. Ngozi Olejeme, the Chairman of the Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund; and Majority Leader of the House of Representatives, Hon. Mulikat Akande-Adeola.
The event is expected to be co-chaired by Ifueko Omoigui-Okauru and the Minister of Petroleum Resources, Diezani Allison Madueke.
