The Plateau State Head of Service, Barrister Huldah Fwangchi, has described as deliberate falsehood the news making the rounds that the state government has received the second tranche of the bailout funds.
Fwangchi said those peddling such stories are political jobbers who were out to misinform the people with a view to achieving negative ends and portraying the image of the government in a negative form.
Fwangchi told newsmen: “At no point has the state received the balance of the bailout fund.
“But rather the state collected the first bailout fund, which is a little above N4 billion.
”In fact, when the bailout fund came, we set up a committee, which worked tirelessly within two weeks and was able to pay staff salary in a transparent manner that anyone could have access to the records, though the various banks to know how the money was received and how much was paid out.
“The committee also met recently to review what it had done and encourage these who had problems to visit their banks to clarify issues.”
Fwangchi explained that for civil servants, three months salary has been paid, bringing their salary payment up to August, while local government workers and teachers have been paid till September.
She said: Since this Administration came on board, the state was faced with marabout of problems like the civil servants who have been on strike due to lack of salaries, which it inherited from the previous administration.
“The first thing it did was to go into negotiation with them and was resolved.
“Credit must be given to Mr Governor.”
Fwangchi said within three months of this administration, six months salaries had been paid to workers, which she described as a real land mark.
She said: “Government has done so much like the renovation of the State Secretariat, approved the request for improvement in Civil Service Duty Travelling Allowance, which is now uniformed, Harmonization of pensions and payment of special teachers, who worked for SUBEB.”
Fwangchi said these approvals have touched the lives of several civil servants in the state compared to what it was before.
She advised the people of the state to be wary of false and misleading information by people who are bent on creating disaffection between the government and the citizens.
