Two postgraduate students of the University of Lagos – Adesola Ogunmefun and Funmi Odusina – on Sunday drowned in Elegushi Beach, Lagos State during the celebration of their friend’s birthday.
The deceased, who graduated from Covenant University in Ogun State, were on the verge of bagging their Master’s Degrees in International Law and Diplomacy from UNILAG.
Ogunmefun and Odusina were among the friends of the celebrant, simply identified as Bolu, who were swept into the Atlantic Ocean during the birthday bash.
They were said to have been rescued, but Ogunmefun died on the spot.
Odusina and Bolu, reports said, were rushed to private hospitals in the area, but were rejected.
Odusina died on the way to the Lagos Island General Hospital.
However, Bolu made it and is said to be on admission at the hospital.
