Tambuwal creates Social Media Unit

Governor Aminu Tambuwal of Sokoto State has approved the creation of Social Media Unit to be domiciled in the Governor’s Office.

Tambuwal’s spokesman, Malam Imam Imam, said in statement in Sokoto on Tuesday that the establishment of the unit was in recognition of the role of social media in governance.

Imam said that the new unit would operate closely with the office of the Special Adviser on Media and Public Affairs.

“The Unit will coordinate the activities of all pro-government online groups, and will interact, on behalf of the government, with interested persons and groups seeking information about government’s policies and programmes,” he said..

Imam further said adequate training would be organised for the state’s youth to equip them with the latest knowledge in online information management.

He said: “By the creation of this Unit, we hope to engage our youth and also get their inputs in the running of the government.

“We want them to do more by offering quality suggestions on their vision for Sokoto State.”
