The NFF General Secretary, Dr. Mohammed Sanusi, categorically stated that at no time did Pinnick, who is a member of the CAF Organizing Committee for the Africa Cup of Nations, fill a form to be considered for CAF nomination for the FIFA Council

He said: “As a Federation, we have always had confidence in Samson Siasia. We believed in him enough to appoint him to head the U23 crew and gave him all the support, including organizing several friendlies and invitational tournaments for the team over the past 18 months

With Pinnick were the Chairman of the Delta State Sports Commission, Tony Okowa; the Chairmen of the Football Associations of Edo and Bayelsa States, Frank Ilaboya and Porbeni Ogun respectively; and renowned marketing consultant, Mike Itemuagbor

Pinnock said at the meeting: “We are very much delighted at your appointment. You are not only the first woman in this very important post but you are also the first African. We are very proud of you and what you have achieved with the United Nations to deserve this position

The communique reads: “In appreciation of the positive well defined and sustainable moves of the NFF Administration, the General Assembly pledged support and express vote of confidence on the leadership of NFF headed by Mr. Amaju Melvin Pinnick.

Head Coach Samson Siasia believes his boys improved in their last game against Algeria by not conceding a goal, but Pinnick wants the players to show no mercy when launching onslaughts and do everything to keep the rearguard tight against the rampaging Senegalese

There are a number of prominent Nigerian football administrators working at the tournament, including Etubom Paul Bassey (General Coordinator); High Chief Emeka Inyama, the Chairman of the NFF Marketing, Sponsorship and Television Advisory Committee (who is working as a Media Officer); Aisha Falode (also working as Media Officer); and Samson Adamu (Assistant General Coordinator)
