The Federal Government promised to act on the Bida-Lapai-Lambata and Mokwa-Tegina-Birnin-Gwari Trunk A roads, as well as support the state government on the remaining repairs of Minna-Suleja Road, particularly from Farin Doki to Minna, which formed the basis for the temporary reopening of the earlier closed road.
News Agency of Nigeria recalls that the state government had announced its decision to restrict movement of articulated vehicles on the road to allow the contractor handling the project to speed up work.
Alhaji Balarabe Ibrahim, the Chairman, state Infrastructure Project Monitoring Committee and Chief of Staff to Governor Sani Abubakar Bello, announced this at a news conference on Tuesday in Minna.
The position of the Government was disclosed by the Chairman of Infrastructure Project Monitoring Committee, Ibrahim Balarabe, while leading the team on a fact finding mission on factors responsible for the slow pace of work and to inspect the ongoing road project.
Following the unending deplorable state of the Minna-Suleja Road, which has been abandoned by the Federal Government, the Niger State Government has disclosed that the over N4 billion spent is not enough.
As such, the road is presently not motorable for heavy duty trucks, trailers and tankers, the Corps said in a statement made available to The Eagle Online on Saturday.
