French President, Emmanuel Macron, has announced a successor to the post as part of a wider government reshuffle, two weeks after the resignation of French interior minister, Gerard Collomb.

A source at the Interior Ministry said two had died.

Lawmakers across the political divide supported the extension except those from Jean-Luc Melenchon’s hard-left France Unbowed party and the Communist party, which both deemed the emergency rule dangerous for civil liberties.
